Sauk County

Conservation Intern

May - August 2019 • Baraboo, WI

What I liked

I liked the plethora of friendly employees and all the valuable skills I learned there. Each employee treated me well and I worked harmoniously with them. As for skills, I learned about monitoring streams, agricultural field visits for erosion, and transect surveying: all applicable and important skills for conservation positions.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had just a little more field work and a little less office work. However, I recognize the importance of office work and the benefits it can provide.

Advice

I would advise being prepared for field work. The most marvelous day of field work can be cut short in an instant due to forgetting a piece of equipment or something else important. Double-check your list of needed tools for a field day!
