Environmental Permitting Specialist

Environmental Permitting Specialist. Location: Newark, NJ. This job is posted by Global SustainabilityJobs List, on the behalf of AECOM careers.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental permitting processes, including Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404/401 and NJDEP permits.
  • Conduct environmental assessments, including wetlands delineation, habitat surveys, and ecological impact studies.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies for permit approvals;
  • Manage project tasks, including budget oversight, client communication, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Prepare technical reports, regulatory applications, and compliance documentation;
  • Assist in business development, including proposal preparation and client outreach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of environmental permitting experience;
  • Valid driver’s license & ability to travel for fieldwork.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred:

  • Extensive experience with NJ & Mid-Atlantic environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in GIS & technical report writing;
  • Experience in ecological assessments for utilities & renewable energy projects;
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
  • Strong communication & leadership skills.
