Director of Grants & Fundraising Initiatives

Overview:
The Director of Grants & Fundraising Initiatives will support the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains in advancing its mission by overseeing the full grants lifecycle and contributing to fundraising efforts. This position will focus on grant research, writing, submission, reporting, and compliance, while also providing support to the Director of Resource Development on special events and specific fundraising inactivates.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Management: Oversee and manage state, federal and foundation grants. Ensure compliance and timely reporting.

Grant Research & Proposal Writing: Identify new funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and government entities. Draft tailored grant proposals and applications.

Reporting & Compliance: Submit accurate and timely grant reports and ensure adherence to all grant regulations and guidelines.

Grants Calendar: Maintain and track deadlines for grant applications and reporting. Ensure smooth processing of all related activities.

Metrics & Reporting: Work with staff to track outcomes of grant applications, analyze performance, and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.

Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to gather program data for proposals and reports.

Fundraising Support: Assist with outreach, fundraising inactivates, and special events as needed, ensuring effective donor engagement and donor acknowledgment.

Database Maintenance: Support database review and clean-up and assist with gift processing.

Relationships:

Internal: Maintain oral and written contact with Director of Resource Development & Marketing, Director of Operations and other key staff for the purpose of exchange of information as it relates to grants and fundraising inactivates.

External: Maintain verbal and written contact with funding sources pertaining to grants as well as donors.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

· Minimum of four years of experience in grant writing or nonprofit program management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Strong writing, editing, and research skills with an eye for detail and accuracy.

· Knowledge of the principles and practices of nonprofit resource development and grant funding.

· Experience in using donor data systems, grant search platforms, AI and other technology for research and content creation.

· Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and other related programs.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a persuasive and collaborative approach.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with team members, funders, and community stakeholders.
