
MCHC/RISE-UP Program
The MCHC/RISE-UP Program is a CDC funded summer program designed for undergraduate juniors, seniors, and scholars within 12 months of their baccalaureate degree. MCHC/RISE-UP is a national consortium of institutions, including (1) Kennedy Krieger/ Johns Hopkins, (2) University of California-Davis, (3) University of South Dakota, and (4) Aaniiih Nakoda College. MCHC/RISE-UP offers public health leadership learning experiences in clinical, research, and community engagement and advocacy areas. Those with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 on a 4-point scale, who are interested in learning more about public health, reducing health disparities, and promoting social justice, especially scholars from underrepresented populations in the field of public health, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications for the MCHC/RISE-UP Program open October 7th, 2024 and are due on or before January 31, 2025.
Eligibility
- Candidate must be a rising college junior or senior or must have received a baccalaureate degree in the 12 months leading up to the beginning of the program.
- Candidate must have a 2.7 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national or a U.S. permanent resident.
- Candidate must be interested in maternal and child health, the elimination of health disparities, or promoting social justice.
- Candidate must commit to participating in program activities for the length of the MCHC/RISE-UP fellowship:
- Orientation dates: May 26–30, 2025
- Program dates: June 2–July 25, 2025
- CDC Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia: July 27–31, 2025
