Environmental Health Scientist Coordinator

The Louisiana Department of Health’s Occupational Health Program (http://ldh.la.gov/index.cfm/page/832) resides in the Office of Public Health in the Section of Environmental Epidemiology & Toxicology (SEET). The Occupational Health Program is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The environmental health scientist coordinator will serve as an Occupational Health Epidemiologist within the Occupational Health Program. The candidate should have experience with data analysis, database management, and statistical analysis using software such as SAS, as well as good oral and written communication skills.

Job Duties:
Job duties include, but are not limited to, maintain, and update SEET’s occupational health-related databases and establish new ones as needed. Perform literature reviews; assist with and/or design epidemiological occupational health studies; and collect, statistically analyze, and interpret occupational health data; and write reports and prepare manuscripts for publication. Participate in meetings and conference calls with appropriate staff and partners, establish relationships with program stakeholders, and participate in program outreach and education projects.

Minimum Education Requirements:
This position requires a master’s degree in public health, chemistry, geography, biological sciences, computer science, sociology, environmental science, toxicology, engineering, physical science, or industrial hygiene. The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in public health with a concentration in epidemiology.

Position Location and Travel:
The position is based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Some limited travel is required.
