About NOVA Strong

NOVA Strong is a fast-growing strength training studio in Fairfax, Virginia. We believe everyone deserves the freedom that comes with being strong, so we make safe, effective strength training work for a wide range of people: busy professionals building muscle, older adults keeping their strength and balance, and people managing nagging joints, osteoporosis or other health concerns.

We work closely with physical therapists and physicians, so clients can keep progressing long after rehab ends. Our programs include Small Group Strength, Small Group Resilience, Legends for adults 55+, personal training, and ONERO, an evidence-based program for building bone density. We're the only licensed ONERO provider in the DC area.

No boot camps and no big-box crowds. We keep groups small, track real progress, and coach every rep. Every coach on our team holds a degree in a health-related field, and we're moving into our own facility.

Our motto: Get Strong. Live Well. Be Kind.

We're looking for a fun, organized and responsible coach to become a key part of our team, and over time, the founder's right hand.

Your role is twofold. About half your week is coaching, including ONERO, our fastest-growing program. The other half, you own the client experience outside the training floor: from someone's first inquiry through their first months with us and every renewal after. You'll walk into an existing client list from day one, and you'll train many of the clients you help bring in.

This role is designed to grow into program oversight and long-term leadership within the company.

What You'll Do

Coaching (about 15–25 hours a week)

  • Coach ONERO classes, following the licensed protocol. We'll train you in it.
  • Coach Small Group Strength, Small Group Resilience, Legends and personal training sessions.
  • Run evaluations and onboarding sessions for new clients (about 5 hours a week).
  • Adapt exercises for clients with osteoporosis, joint issues and other limitations, and track their progress.
  • Support clients in and out of sessions.

  • Run Success Check-In calls with new clients and act on what you hear.
  • Notice when someone has nothing on the calendar, and get them back.
  • Celebrate client wins, and put together our monthly Feats of Strength newsletter.

  • Handle reschedules, pauses, cancellations, failed payments and renewals.

Reviews and referrals

  • Ask happy clients for reviews and thank the people who refer friends to us.
  • Help run community events like bring-a-friend classes.

Systems

  • Keep our CRM (GoHighLevel) and gym software (Kilo) accurate, and the automations working.

  • A clear, friendly writer for texts, emails and newsletters.
  • Discreet with personal and health information.
  • Active and healthy yourself, and leading by example.

Qualifications

Required

  • A bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise science, health science or a related field, or an the equivalent of a Physical Therapist Assistant license.
  • Current CPR/AED certification, or the ability to get it within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong barbell and dumbbell technique, and the ability to regress and progress movements for different bodies and goals.
  • Comfort coaching heavy lifting and impact work with older adults, and willingness to complete ONERO licensing.

Preferred

  • Eligible to sit for, or interested in, the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) credential.
  • 1+ years in a clinical setting such as outpatient PT, orthopedics or medical fitness.
  • Experience adapting exercise for joint issues, low-back history, or osteopenia and osteoporosis.
  • Experience in membership sales, a front desk, hospitality or customer success.
  • Experience with GoHighLevel or another CRM.

Schedule

  • Coaching is primarily in the mornings to early afternoon, with flexibility towards one or the other.
  • Coaching blocks are set; client experience work is flexible and can move around your week.

Onboarding and Growth

  • You'll start with an onboarding period to learn our systems, methods and sit for the necessary licenses.
  • Experienced coaches take on more coaching hours right away. Newer coaches start with more client experience work and closer mentorship, adding coaching as they grow.
  • Over time, the role grows into program oversight and leadership.
