Specialized Intervention Tutor, Literacy & Executive Functioning

About Spark for Learning

Spark for Learning is expanding to better serve our clients through coordinated assessment, clinical-grade intervention/tutoring, and therapy services. Directed by a pediatric neuropsychologist and former special education teacher, we bridge the gap between clinical evaluations and actionable, evidence-based academic support. We do not just offer "homework help;” we provide targeted, clinical-grade interventions that empower students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD to thrive.

The Role

We are seeking highly skilled, compassionate educators to join our specialized intervention team. Working directly under the supervision of our Clinical Director, you will implement individualized intervention plans targeting executive functioning skills and/or structured literacy. You will work with students in a beautifully designed, distraction-free office setting in one-on-one or, if desired, small-group formats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Targeted Instruction: Depending on your expertise, you will deliver evidence-based interventions in structured literacy (e.g., Orton-Gillingham or Wired for Reading) and/or executive functioning (e.g., working memory, organization, task initiation, and time management).
  • Plan Implementation: Execute the individualized "Learning Profile & Intervention Plan" developed for each student in collaboration with the Clinical Director following their initial intake/assessment.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Maintain accurate, brief session notes detailing student progress, engagement, and areas of friction. Prepare monthly progress summaries for parents.
  • Collaborative Care: Participate in mandatory, paid case consultations with the Clinical Director to review student data, troubleshoot roadblocks, and refine instructional strategies.
  • Environment Management: Foster a neurodivergent-affirming, deeply supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Psychology, or a related field. Master’s degree or current graduate students strongly preferred.
  • Specialized Training: Documented training or certification in structured literacy methodologies AND/OR proven frameworks for executive function coaching.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct instruction or intervention to students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorders.
  • Skills: Exceptional patience, empathy, and the ability to pivot instructional strategies in real-time based on a student's emotional and cognitive state.
  • Logistics: Must be available for prime after-school tutoring hours (e.g., 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM) at least two to three days a week. Candidates who are available only for weekend hours will also be considered.

The Spark for Learning Advantage: Why Work With Us?

We recognize that top-tier educators are the core of our success. Unlike traditional tutoring centers where you are left to design your own curriculum with minimal support, Spark for Learning offers a collaborative, growth-oriented environment:

  • Clinical Mentorship: Gain invaluable experience working directly alongside a pediatric neuropsychologist. This is an exceptional opportunity for graduate students or educators looking to deepen their understanding of cognitive profiles and brain-based learning.
  • Curated Caseloads: You will be paired with students whose needs specifically match your expertise, backed by comprehensive cognitive and academic baseline data. No more guessing what a student needs.
  • Paid Administrative & Supervision Time: We value your time. You are compensated not just for direct student instruction, but for your time spent on planning and in weekly case consultations.
  • A Premium Location: Work in a comfortable office space in a high foot traffic location.
  • Competitive Compensation: Hourly compensation begins at $50, including planning and case consultation time.
