AmeriCorps Program Assistant

We're Hiring! Program Assistants for 2026-2027 AmeriCorps Cohorts

Are you passionate about helping students thrive? "I Have A Dream" is looking for enthusiastic, student-centered Program Assistants to join four AmeriCorps cohorts for the 2026-2027 service year.

"I Have A Dream" partners with AmeriCorps to help students from low-income communities succeed in school and achieve postsecondary success. As a Program Assistant, you'll mentor students, support families, and help build pathways to lifelong success.

What is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is a federally funded program that allows nonprofits to welcome service members who make a real impact in their communities. It's not a traditional job. It's a professional development opportunity that places you at the heart of a meaningful program.

What You'll Do

  • Mentor a caseload of 15-25 "Dream Scholars" as a positive role model and guide
  • Plan and lead in-school and after-school academic, social-emotional, and enrichment activities
  • Support students in the classroom through one-on-one and small-group tutoring
  • Support volunteer tutors, mentors, and other program volunteers
  • Engage parents through workshops, discussion groups, and program activities
  • Build college and career awareness through job training and internship opportunities
  • Maintain student records and support site office operations

What's the Commitment?

Three-Quarter-Time Position (2 openings)

  • 1,200-hour minimum, approximately 35-40 hours per week
  • Living allowance of $14,700, paid semi-monthly at $735 (pre-tax)
  • $5,176.50 Segal Education Award for eligible education expenses
  • Ongoing professional development

Half-Time Positions (1 opening)

  • 900-hour minimum, approximately 18-25 hours per week
  • Living allowance of $11,500, paid semi-monthly at $575 (pre-tax)
  • $3,697.50 Segal Education Award for eligible education expenses
  • Ongoing professional development
