About the Casper Spuds
Thank you for your interest in joining the Casper Spuds Baseball organization!
The Casper Spuds are a minor league-style collegiate summer baseball organization based in Casper, Wyoming. We combine competitive collegiate baseball with the entertainment, promotions, community engagement, and fan experience of minor league baseball.
Our goal is to provide interns with meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares them to compete for future opportunities in collegiate and professional sports. Spuds interns aren't simply observing from the sidelines—they become an important part of our organization and help bring the Spuds experience to life throughout the season.
We are happy to work with students who wish to fulfill requirements for college internship credit when applicable. We are looking for motivated individuals who are ready to take initiative, develop their skills, contribute creatively, and become part of the Spuds team.
Position Overview
The Casper Spuds are seeking a confident, technically minded, and motivated Live Sports Production Director Intern to help lead the team's live game productions during the 2027 summer baseball season.
This is a leadership-focused sports media internship designed for a student who already has some experience or strong foundational knowledge in broadcasting, live video production, sports media, or a related area and is ready to take on greater responsibility within a live production environment.
The Live Sports Production Director Intern will serve as the student production lead for Casper Spuds live game broadcasts, helping coordinate the people, technology, content, and timing required to bring Spuds Baseball to viewers watching online.
The Production Director will help oversee the overall flow of each broadcast, including camera assignments, camera direction, video switching, broadcast audio, graphics, replay, commercials, sponsor elements, announcer coordination, and livestream quality.
This position is not simply about operating equipment.
It's about seeing the entire production at once.
The Production Director needs to know what is happening on the field, what viewers are currently seeing, what camera should be ready next, when a graphic or replay is needed, when a sponsor element must run, what the announcers need to know, and what to do when something doesn't go according to plan.
In addition to directing the live production, the Production Director Intern may have opportunities to step behind the microphone and serve as a play-by-play broadcaster or color commentator during selected Spuds games.
This combination gives the intern an opportunity to develop experience on both sides of the broadcast—leading the production behind the scenes and communicating the game to viewers on the air.
This is not a sit-on-the-sidelines summer internship! You'll help call the shots, coordinate a live sports production crew, solve problems in real time, and potentially call the action from behind the microphone.

Play-by-Play & Color Commentary
The Live Sports Production Director Intern may also have opportunities to serve as a play-by-play broadcaster and/or color commentator during selected Casper Spuds games.
When serving in an on-air role, responsibilities may include:

Game-Day Operations: Collaborate with Spuds staff and fellow interns to support game-day activities, promotions, special events, and the overall fan experience.
Team Operations: Summer baseball is a team effort. Interns may assist with additional team and organizational responsibilities as needed to help provide a positive, safe, and memorable experience for Spuds fans.

Why Intern with the Casper Spuds?
During a live baseball broadcast, dozens of decisions happen every minute.
Which camera has the best shot?
Is another camera ready for the next pitch?
Should we show the replay?
Is the score graphic correct?
Is the announcer's microphone working?
Do we have a sponsor read coming up?
Is the commercial ready?
What's happening between innings?
And what happens when something goes wrong?
Someone has to see the entire picture.
As the Live Sports Production Director Intern, that person will often be you.
You'll have the opportunity to move beyond simply operating one camera or completing one production task and begin learning how to lead the entire live sports production.
You'll call shots, coordinate people, make decisions, troubleshoot problems, and help determine what viewers see and hear.
And on selected games, you may trade the production headset for a broadcast microphone and experience the game from another perspective—as a play-by-play broadcaster or color commentator.
That combination provides a unique opportunity to understand sports broadcasting from both sides of the production.
Whether your goal is to become a sports producer, broadcast director, technical director, play-by-play broadcaster, sports commentator, or sports media professional, you'll spend the summer developing skills through real games, real broadcasts, and real decisions.
