About the Casper Spuds

Thank you for your interest in joining the Casper Spuds Baseball organization!

The Casper Spuds are a minor league-style collegiate summer baseball organization based in Casper, Wyoming. We combine competitive collegiate baseball with the entertainment, promotions, community engagement, and fan experience of minor league baseball.

Our goal is to provide interns with meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares them to compete for future opportunities in collegiate and professional sports. Spuds interns aren't simply observing from the sidelines—they become an important part of our organization and help bring the Spuds experience to life throughout the season.

We are happy to work with students who wish to fulfill requirements for college internship credit when applicable. Previous experience working in sports is not required. We are looking for energetic, creative individuals who are ready to learn, contribute, and become part of the Spuds team.

Position Overview

The Casper Spuds are seeking an outgoing, confident, and high-energy On-Field Host & Fan Engagement Internto help bring the entertainment and personality of Spuds Baseball to life during the 2027 summer season.

The On-Field Host serves as one of the most visible members of the Spuds game-day entertainment team and will help create an exciting, interactive, and memorable experience for fans at Mike Lansing Field.

This internship combines live hosting, fan engagement, promotions, sponsor activation, event coordination, improvisation, and sports entertainment.

The intern will serve as an on-field emcee during Spuds home games, helping host between-inning contests, introduce promotions, interact with fans, recognize special guests, and keep the energy going throughout the ballpark.

But this position isn't limited to holding a microphone.

The On-Field Host & Fan Engagement Intern will also help plan and organize the experiences they bring to life, working with Spuds marketing, ticketing, sales, audio, and game-day personnel to coordinate promotions, fan experiences, ceremonial first pitches, National Anthem performers, group activities, sponsor activations, and other special moments.

The ideal candidate is someone who can confidently speak in front of a crowd while also understanding that great live entertainment requires significant preparation, organization, teamwork, and the ability to improvise when things don't go exactly according to plan.

If you're the person who can walk into a crowd of strangers and somehow have them cheering together five minutes later, we want to meet you.

Working with the Spuds Game-Day Team

Why Intern with the Casper Spuds?

A fan may come to Mike Lansing Field because they love baseball.

But the experience they remember might be winning a ridiculous between-inning contest, throwing out the first pitch, hearing their group recognized over the PA, catching a T-shirt, appearing on the field, or laughing at something completely unexpected.

As the On-Field Host & Fan Engagement Intern, you'll help create those moments.

You'll be one of the people responsible for taking the space between pitches and innings and turning it into entertainment.

Some nights everything will go exactly according to the script.

Other nights a contestant won't show up, a promotion will suddenly have 30 fewer seconds than expected, a microphone won't cooperate, or a seven-year-old participant will give you an answer you absolutely did not anticipate.

That's live entertainment.

You'll learn how to prepare for the moment—and then how to confidently adapt when the moment has other plans.

Whether your goal is to work in professional sports, broadcasting, live entertainment, marketing, communications, promotions, or event management, this internship provides an opportunity to build real experience engaging a live audience and becoming comfortable on the microphone and in front of a crowd.

Application Process

We are looking for applicants who are ready to grab the microphone, bring the energy, engage the crowd, and help make Spuds Baseball memorable.

Applicants should submit a résumé highlighting any relevant experience in public speaking, broadcasting, theatre, communications, marketing, promotions, events, athletics, student organizations, or other fan- or audience-facing roles.

Applicants are also encouraged to submit a brief video introduction or sample of previous hosting, broadcasting, public speaking, or on-camera work if available. A professionally produced video is not required—we're much more interested in seeing your personality, communication style, energy, and comfort in front of an audience or camera.

Previous professional hosting experience is not required. We are looking for someone who can be confident without being scripted, energetic without being forced, and professional without being afraid to have fun.

We look forward to reviewing your application and introducing you to Spuds Baseball in Casper, Wyoming!

Grab the mic. Bring the energy. Make the moment memorable.
