Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Psychology

Banyan Behavioral Health | Burlingame, CA & San Jose, CA | Hybrid | Full-Time | Fellowship

Banyan Behavioral Health is recruiting Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellows for our 2027–2028 cohort. This one-year, full-time fellowship provides advanced training in culturally responsive, evidence-based outpatient psychotherapy within a collaborative, multilingual group practice.

The fellowship is designed to support the transition from doctoral training to independent professional practice through intensive supervision, clinical consultation, didactics, and progressive professional development. Fellows work with diverse clients while developing greater depth, confidence, and independence as psychologists.

What you'll do

  • Provide evidence-based outpatient psychotherapy to a diverse clinical population. Populations served at Banyan include adults, school-aged children and families.
  • Work with clients presenting with a range of concerns, including anxiety and OCD, mood disorders, trauma, ADHD/ASD, identity concerns, and life transitions.
  • Develop an individualized caseload based on clinical interests, training goals, language abilities, and practice needs.
  • Participate in two hours of individual supervision each week, as well as weekly group supervision and interdisciplinary clinical consultation.
  • Participate in a structured didactic program focused on culturally responsive care, evidence-based treatment, professional development, and the transition to independent practice.
  • Collaborate with psychologists and other behavioral health professionals in a collegial, multidisciplinary practice environment.
  • Develop skills in consultation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional identity development.
  • Pursue additional training opportunities based on interests and readiness, which may include group psychotherapy, mentorship of practicum students, and leadership or program-development experiences.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation and meet professional, ethical, and practice standards.

About you

Applicants should:

  • Be enrolled in or have completed an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (PhD or PsyD).
  • Complete all doctoral degree requirements, including dissertation requirements and doctoral internship (APA-accredited), prior to beginning the fellowship.
  • Be eligible to register as a Psychological Associate in California by the fellowship start date.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in culturally responsive, evidence-based psychotherapy.
  • Value collaboration, consultation, curiosity, humility, and continued professional growth.
  • Be interested in developing increasing independence and preparing for professional licensure.

Multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply, but proficiency in a language other than English is not required. Opportunities to provide psychotherapy in other languages may be available based on proficiency, clinical fit, client need, and available supervision.

Annual compensation is approximately $73,000–$97,000+, depending on clinical productivity, with typical annual compensation of approximately $85,000 at 20 sessions per week.

  • Three letters of recommendation, preferably from clinical supervisors*: 
    • One letter may be from your current Internship Training Director, which also indicates that you are in good standing and expected to successfully complete your predoctoral internship, including your anticipated completion date.
  • A verification letter from your current Internship Training Director, (if not already included as a recommendation letter) confirming that you are in good standing and expected to successfully complete your predoctoral internship, including anticipated completion date.*
  • A verification letter from your dissertation chair confirming your anticipated dissertation defense or completion date.*
