The Impact Research and Monitoring Intern will support the Core Arts team in collecting, analysing, and presenting data that demonstrates the positive outcomes of our creative programmes. This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in research, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and social impact measurement within a community-based, arts and mental health charity.

You will work closely with Core Arts’ staff across departments to gather qualitative and quantitative evidence of impact, contribute to reporting for funders, and help strengthen data-driven storytelling about Core Arts’ work.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing impact measurement tools (e.g., surveys, feedback forms, interviews, focus groups).

• Collect, collate, and manage data from programme participants, staff, and tutors to assess outcomes and performance indicators.

• Support analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data to produce insights on member engagement, progression, and well-being.

• Contribute to internal and external reports, funding applications, and annual impact summaries.

• Help visualise data for presentations, dashboards, and infographics that communicate Core Arts’ impact clearly and accessibly.

• Research best practices in community impact measurement, mental health recovery models, and arts-for-well-being evaluation methods.

• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with GDPR and data ethics standards.

• Support ongoing improvement by suggesting ways to enhance feedback systems and data collection processes.

Learning Outcomes / What You’ll Gain

• Practical experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), research, and impact reporting in a community arts and well-being context.

• Insight into how creative and health-based charities demonstrate outcomes to funders and stakeholders.

• Experience using mixed-methods research — combining statistical data with qualitative stories and testimonials.

• Skills in data analysis, research ethics, and report writing.

• Mentorship from experienced staff in data and programme evaluation.

• Opportunities to contribute to real-world projects that improve mental health support through creativity.
