Assistant Coach- Part Time (Athletics)

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking qualified applicants for part-time Assistant Coach positions within the Department of Athletics. Recruitment is ongoing, and applications will be accepted on a continuous basis to meet current and future coaching needs.

Assistant Coaches support all aspects of the athletic program, including coaching, recruiting, student-athlete development, academic support, team administration, and game-day activities. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to student-athlete success, teamwork, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and the mission of SUNY Broome Community College.

SUNY Broome Athletics offers the following sports: Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, Competitive Cheer, Basketball, Track and Field, Baseball, and Softball.

SUNY Broome Athletics competes in the NJCAA Division III, Region 3 and Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) and is committed to providing student-athletes with a positive collegiate athletic experience while supporting their academic, personal, and athletic development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

On-Court Coaching and Development

  • Assist in planning and executing daily practices, focusing on individual skill development, position-specific drills, and team tactical strategies.

Scouting and Game Preparation

  • Conduct film breakdown of opponents and assist in creating scouting reports. Utilize available video and tools to prepare players for upcoming matchups. 

Operations and Administration

  • Assist with equipment inventory, fundraising initiatives, youth summer camps, and community service events pertaining to applicable sport. 

Rules Compliance

  • Maintain strict compliance with all NJCAA DIII, Region 3 and MSAC regulations, and SUNY Broome policies. 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Previous coaching or playing experience in the applicable sport.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and mentor college-aged student-athletes.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel with team as required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship from the employer. 

Additional Information:

The Assistant Coach position is paid bi-weekly through the applicable season via a $3,300 stipend.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
