Navy Clinical Psychologist

Serve as a Clinical Psychologist in the United States Navy.

The U.S. Navy is seeking qualified clinical psychologists interested in applying their expertise in mental health, psychological assessment, and evidence-based treatment in support of Sailors, Marines, and military families.

As a Navy Clinical Psychologist, you will have the opportunity to provide behavioral healthcare in diverse clinical and operational environments while serving as a commissioned officer. Navy psychologists support the mental health, resilience, and readiness of military personnel through direct patient care, psychological evaluations, crisis intervention, consultation, and professional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and clinical interviews.
• Provide individual, group, and other appropriate evidence-based psychological treatments.
• Assess and treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and stress-related concerns.
• Conduct crisis intervention and evaluate patient safety when clinically indicated.
• Develop treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Provide consultation, education, and behavioral health training to military personnel and leadership.
• Support psychological readiness, resilience, and prevention initiatives.
• Maintain clinical documentation and comply with applicable professional and military standards.
• Participate in professional development, leadership, and military officer training as required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for the applicable Navy program.

Typical direct-accession qualifications include:

• A doctoral degree in clinical psychology or counseling psychology from an appropriately accredited program.
• A current, unrestricted license permitting independent practice as a psychologist in a U.S. state or jurisdiction.
• Eligibility for appointment as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy.
• Ability to meet applicable medical, physical, and other accession standards.
• Willingness to accept the service commitment associated with the selected program.
