Youth Lifeguard/Swim Coach
Lower School Youth Lifeguard
The Riviera Ridge School is seeking a responsible, energetic, and attentive Youth Lifeguard to provide lifeguard supervision during our Lower School Physical Education swim classes.
The lifeguard will work alongside our PE teachers to ensure a safe and positive environment for students ages 7–11 during pool activities. This position is focused specifically on student safety and lifeguard supervision and does not include teaching or coaching responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Current Lifeguard Certification required.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to become certified upon employment.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Strong swimming skills and confidence responding to emergency situations.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide active and attentive lifeguard supervision of students during Lower School PE swim classes.
- Monitor the pool and surrounding areas at all times.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established pool and school safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.
- Communicate effectively with PE teachers and school staff regarding student safety or concerns.
- Follow all school policies and procedures related to student supervision and safety.
- Maintain current lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
Required Employment Documentation
- Current TB assessment/clearance.
- Successful fingerprinting and background check.
- Current Lifeguard Certification.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain certification upon employment.

- Able to remain focused and attentive throughout swim classes.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with PE teachers and school staff.
- Able to respond calmly and appropriately in an emergency situation.
General Schedule
Fall – October/November
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
9:30–11:30 a.m.
Spring – April/May
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
9:30–11:30 a.m.
There may be opportunities to work additional lifeguard shifts or activities as the schedule allows. If you are only available for some of the scheduled shifts, there may be flexibility in creating a schedule that works for both you and the school.
