Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Laboratory Manager. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Manager to join our research program focused on pancreatic oncology and gastrointestinal endoscopy. This is a pivotal role combining hands-on bench science with scientific data stewardship and laboratory operations management. The successful candidate will play a central role in advancing translational research aimed at improving early detection and treatment of pancreatic and GI cancers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments using primary pancreatic cancer cell lines, patient-derived organoids, and GI tissue specimens.
- Process patient derived blood samples and contribute to translational experiments by supporting sample preparation, molecular assays, and collaborative research workflows.
- Perform mammalian cell culture including maintenance, passaging, cryopreservation, and mycoplasma monitoring.
- Conduct molecular biology and biochemical assays (e.g., Western blot, qPCR, ELISA, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry).
- Collaborate with GI endoscopy clinical partners on tissue processing protocols and translational experimental pipelines.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and ensure experimental reproducibility.
- Accurately enter experimental results, sample metadata, and assay outcomes into research databases in a timely manner.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure data completeness, consistency, and integrity.
- Assist in the development and refinement of data entry workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate with biostatistics and bioinformatics collaborators to facilitate downstream data analysis.
- Contribute to data preparation for grant reports, manuscripts, and regulatory submissions.
- Manage ordering, inventory tracking, and receipt of laboratory reagents, consumables, and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with institutional biosafety, OSHA, and regulatory requirements; serve as point of contact for safety audits.
- Oversee equipment maintenance logs and coordinate service contracts.
- Assist the Principal Investigator with budget tracking for lab supplies.
- Mentor and support graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants as needed.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Staff and directs day-to-day work activities, including assigning responsibilities, setting priorities, establishing schedules, monitoring productivity and performance, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with departmental goals, policies, procedures, and standards.
Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management to staff; addresses performance and conduct concerns; administers corrective action as appropriate; and participates in or effectively recommends employment decisions, including hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline, and termination.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree required.
With at least 5+ years of leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree or PhD in Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated hands-on expertise in mammalian cell culture and tissue culture techniques.
Proficiency in standard molecular and cellular biology assays (Western blot, qPCR, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, ELISA).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across research and clinical teams.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $97,461.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
