Recreational Gymnastics Coach

Role Overview:

The Recreational Gymnastics and Tumbling Coach leads energetic, structured classes for athletes of varying ages and skill levels (typically preschool through teens). This role focuses on teaching foundational body awareness, motor skills, and tumbling progressions in a safe, encouraging environment that builds confidence and a love for physical fitness.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction: Teach fundamental gymnastics events (vault, bars, beam, floor) and tumbling basics (rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, back handspring drills) using proper spotting techniques and progressive lesson plans.

Safety & Facility Management: Inspect apparatus and matting before every session; enforce gym safety rules, maintain student supervision at all times, and respond to minor injuries following facility protocols.

Engagement & Mentorship: Foster a positive, inclusive class culture through enthusiastic coaching, positive reinforcement, and age-appropriate drills.

Communication: Provide brief progress updates to parents, recommend class-level promotions, and collaborate with coaching staff on curriculum planning and open gyms.

Qualifications

Previous background in gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading, or dance (as an athlete or instructor).

Demonstrated ability to spot basic tumbling skills safely.

Strong interpersonal skills and patience when working with children.

Current CPR/First Aid certification and completion of background screening (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
