Youth Development Coach
Title: Youth Development Coach – Sports, Fitness & Recreation
FSLA status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Unit Director
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assists in the planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating activities provided within a specific program area, such as Education, Technology, Sports, Social Recreation, Fine Arts or Health & Life Skill activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
Prepare Youth for Success
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
- Engaging and interacting with members to promote and stimulate program participation.
- Participate in new member orientation process.
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
- Maintain a safe, clean and positive environment for our members and visitors.
- Maintain control and an accurate inventory of program supplies and equipment.
Program Development and Implementation
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in Programs and appearance of the club at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
- Program reports and calendars.
- Assist in promoting and marketing programs to club members and parents.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance and activity records.
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
- Provide direct supervision of all boys and girls ages 6-18 within your program area.
Core Area Responsibilities-Sports, Fitness, & Social Recreation
- Develop character of members through social recreation & athletics.
- Promote the fitness of members.
- Coordinate game room tournament (pool, ping pong, foosball, air hockey)
- Assist with the development of recreation & athletic program schedule.
- Develop and implement athletic leagues, tournaments, and team sports.
- Develop Club members’ fitness, a positive use of leisure, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:
- 48 or more College Units, college experience, or pass the Standardized Instructional Aide test required.
- Knowledge of current computer technologies and software
- Experience implementing youth programs, activities, and games.
- Ability to motivate youth with high energy and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to deal with the general public.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Mandatory CPR/First Aid Certifications.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Active work; standing, stooping, bending to interact with children at play. Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force.

HOURS: Approximately: Monday through Friday; 2:00-6:00pm; approx.; 20 hours per week
