Prevention Specialist

This position provides prevention expertise, strategic leadership and technical consultation for substance use prevention within Rutland and Addison Counties through the Vermont Prevention Lead Organization (VPLO) grant funding structure. Working with a variety of community agencies, the Prevention Specialist will be responsible for all grant objectives and lead activities in accordance with the grant. They will lead and facilitate a community-based approach and coalition building to establish collaborative strategic communication and implementation plans as well as lead, oversee and report out on activities and events supported by prevention grant funding. Budget preparation, monitoring and timely documentation and reporting in conjunction with grant requirements is also a responsibility within the scope of this position.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, social services, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Work Experience: Minimum three years of community experience involving public health and preventative program development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License. Certified Prevention Specialist Certification preferred.
