Discovery Days Coordinator

Discovery Days Program Coordinator  (4 opens)

Part-Time | Occasional | Fewer Than 20 Days Per Year

Mylan Park is seeking energetic, dependable, and responsible individuals to serve as Discovery Days Program Coordinators.

Discovery Days is a free youth program serving students in grades 1–8 on select days when school is not in session. The program provides a safe and engaging environment where students participate in recreation, educational activities, mentorship, career exploration, Lunch & Learn experiences, and activities that promote healthy choices and positive decision-making.

What You'll Do

As a Discovery Days Program Coordinator, you will help our team:

Supervise and engage students throughout the day

Assist with games, recreation, educational activities, and group activities

Help students transition safely between activities

Support guest speakers and Lunch & Learn experiences

Assist with meals, check-in, dismissal, and general program operations

Serve as a positive role model for participating youth

Help maintain a safe, welcoming, structured, and fun environment

Who We're Looking For

This opportunity is ideal for college students interested in education, youth development, recreation, social work, psychology, counseling, sports management, public health, or community service.

Candidates must be responsible, dependable, patient, professional, and comfortable working with children in grades 1–8. Because participants are minors, selected candidates must follow all Mylan Park youth-safety requirements and may be subject to a background check.

Limited-Day Commitment

This is not a traditional weekly job. Discovery Days are held only on select no-school days, with fewer than 20 workdays during the year. This makes the position a great opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience working with youth without committing to a regular weekly schedule.

Candidates do not necessarily need to be available for every Discovery Day; however, reliability on the dates they commit to work is essential.

One thing I especially like for Handshake is the line “Candidates do not necessarily need to be available for every Discovery Day.” That can significantly broaden your student applicant pool while still making it clear that once they commit to a date, you need them there.

I would also consider calling the position “Discovery Days Youth Program Coordinator” because a student scanning Handshake immediately understands what kind of experience they will gain.
