Alpine/Downhill Ski Instructor

The Loppet staff are dedicated and energetic individuals who work together leveraging the various aspects of the Foundation to create a whole that is more than the sum of its parts.
The Loppet Foundation is seeking part time alpine/downhill ski instructors to teach ski lessons to youth ages 5-8. The purpose of these three-week ski lessons is to get more youth into the sport of alpine/downhill skiing. The lessons are designed for beginners, ages 5-8, and will focus on teaching the fundamental skills, playing games, having fun and falling in love with a lifelong sport.
Hours and Locations:
The 75 minute lessons are on weekends, January through early March. All lessons take place on the alpine hill located behind the Trailhead building at Theodore Wirth Park.
Responsibilities:
- Employee must have their own ski equipment
- Teach ski skills and lead games for youth as outlined in the training curricula and lesson plans
- Help set up skill stations for participants to practice skills
- Help participants with rental equipment
- Supervise group skis on the local trails .
- Participate in instructor meetings, debriefs, and training
- Evaluate and record ability levels for program participants
- Provide an inclusive, equitable, and encouraging experience for all participants
Provided Training and Certifications:
All coaches need to go through the following training:
- Heads Up concussion certification
- Safe Sport certification
- Loppet Safety/First Aid presentation (online)
- Loppet Alpine Training
- Mission-driven equity guidelines
Alpine/Downhill instructors will report to the Loppet Sport Administrator. This is a seasonal hourly position at the Loppet Foundation. Pay range is between $17.02 and $25 per hour, depending on demonstrable experience and certifications. Volunteers are also welcome!
