Health Assistant
SUMMARY
The Health Assistant, an unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) position, provides essential health and clerical support to the school nurse, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the school health office. This role is crucial for maintaining a healthy and productive learning environment for students and staff. The Health Assistant operates strictly under the supervision and delegation of the licensed school nurse and must adhere to all applicable state laws, district policies, and professional health-related standards of care.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Current CPR, First Aid and AED Certification from an in-person provider
- Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
- Competency in pre-algebraic skills for dosage calculations and vital signs conversions
REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (apply at AZDPS FCC Form Triage)
- Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
- Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department
- Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for [AZ Health Care Cost Containment System] AHCCS-Provider ID Number
- Health Services orientation/training
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- One (1) year of experience in a health care setting or school health environment
