Beach Volleyball Coach – Part-Time

Santa Monica, CA | On-Site | Part-Time | 1–5 hours/week

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, personable volleyball coach to join our coaching team on a flexible, as-needed basis. You'll lead adult beach volleyball classes ranging from beginner through advanced levels, helping players build their skills while creating a fun, welcoming, and engaging experience on the sand.

Our coaches are a big part of what makes the SMBV Co. experience special. We're looking for someone who not only knows how to coach volleyball, but genuinely enjoys working with people. Patience, approachability, and the ability to connect with different personalities are just as important as technical coaching ability.

What you'll do

• Lead beach volleyball classes for adult players across a range of skill levels
• Teach and refine fundamentals including serving, passing, setting, attacking, defense, positioning, and gameplay
• Adapt your coaching style, communication, drills, and pacing to different personalities, learning styles, and skill levels
• Provide clear, constructive, and encouraging individual feedback
• Create an environment where players feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving
• Work closely with our Head of Operations to refine coaching methods and maintain a consistent, high-quality class experience while keeping sessions fun and engaging
• Show up reliably, on time, and prepared for each class

About you

• Previous volleyball coaching or instructional experience required
• Strong beach and/or indoor volleyball playing background
• Personable, approachable, and genuinely enjoys interacting with people
• Patient and able to adapt your communication and coaching style to different personalities and abilities
• Comfortable coaching everyone from true beginners learning the fundamentals to experienced recreational players looking to improve
• Strong communicator who can explain concepts clearly and provide useful, encouraging feedback
• Dependable, punctual, and professional

Nice to have

• Beach volleyball coaching experience
• Experience coaching across multiple skill levels
