The Oahe Zap is a Collegiate summer baseball team, playing in the Independence League Baseball. We are looking for someone with experience in broadcasting and who loves being a part of the sports world! The summer collegiate season is fast paced and filled with many great experiences. In Pierre, South Dakota, summer baseball is one the most anticipated events of the year. We want to continue the growth of love for baseball in our community, and that can continue with you this 2027 season!

Start Date: Approx. May 20 End Date: Approx. August 6

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Respect and honor the values of the team and organization
  • General game day set up
  • Expanding your skills in play-by-play game calling as well as public address announcing
  • Broadcasting each game with charisma and high energy
  • Researching and fact-checking players, coaches and team's statistics as it relates
  • Writing and recording game day notes and other related statistics
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage time well
  • Must be prepared to assist with other team events on non-game days
  • Carrying yourself professionally both on and off the field
  • Conduct pre-game and post-game interviews with players and coaches.
  • Any other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Currently working towards or already a college graduate with a degree in Broadcasting and/or Sports Broadcasting
  • Game calling experience
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Clear and confident speaking voice
  • Technologically savvy
  • Familiarity with the game of baseball
  • Passionate to be a part of the sports world

Compensation:

  • $750 stipend for the summer, merchandise/uniform and provided housing
