Grants Management Specialist

Conservation Works (based in Windsor, CA) is seeking an experienced Grants Management Specialist to provide oversight of our expanding wildfire resilience and forest health grant portfolio. This position plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing regional forest health and wildfire resilience through the management of collaborative regional grants designed to bring critical resources to supporting private forest landowners.

Salary Range: $38 - $48/hour ($79,040 – $99,840 per year), commensurate with experience and qualifications. [Conservation Works contributes toward employee health insurance premiums and offers dental and vision insurance, paid time off (PTO), a flexible hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of one day per week in the Windsor office, and participation in the California CalSavers retirement savings program.]

• Grant administration, including budgets, reporting, compliance, contracts, and partner agreements
• Strong grant project management and ability to manage multiple grants, deadlines, and priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Meeting facilitation, collaboration, and consensus building
• Strong relationship building with agencies, partners, landowners, and communities
• Leadership and coordination of staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers
• Strong organizational, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management software
• Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and perspectives
• Adaptability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
• Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally work evenings or weekends
• Commitment to natural resource conservation and community resilience

Experience & Education
• Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience demonstrating knowledge in one or more of the following areas; natural resource management, conservation, forestry, public policy, community development, business administration, communications or a similar field.
• Grant Management Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience managing state, federal, or foundation grants and demonstrated high-level project management experience. Experience with CAL FIRE, USDA NRCS, or highly collaborative grants is strongly preferred.
• Financial Acumen: Proven track record in complex budget management, multi-entity invoicing, forecasting, and grant reporting.
• Nonprofit Experience: Understanding of nonprofit management, strategic planning, board governance, and organizational sustainability. Experience supporting executive leadership, fundraising, or organizational development is highly desirable.
