Behavioral Health Technician

Changes Healing Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our clinical team.
Under the general direction of the Clinical Director, the BHT provides direct patient care and support in a structured behavioral health and substance use treatment environment. This role plays an important part in helping patients engage in treatment, build recovery skills, and maintain progress toward their goals.

What You'll Do
- Complete initial intake documentation, biopsychosocial assessments, screening tools, consents, and other admission-related documentation in accordance with established guidelines.
- Provide direct support services to patients, including engagement in group lectures and discussions related to 12-step recovery, health and wellness, and crisis management.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups and lectures designed to help patients identify needs, address presenting concerns, and support treatment plan goals.
- Observe and document patient participation, engagement, and progress through timely and accurate progress notes.
- Prepare progress notes, event notifications, and other required documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Support coordination of care through case review, therapeutic interventions, communication with the treatment team, and monitoring patient progress.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and efficient treatment environment.
- Communicate effectively with clinical and treatment team members to promote safe, quality patient care.
- Protect patient confidentiality, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and uphold ethical standards.
- Complete other reasonably related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
- Associate degree with at least 18 credit hours specific to behavioral health and two years of full-time experience in the behavioral health field; or
- High school diploma and four years of full-time experience in the behavioral health field; or
- High school equivalency diploma and four years of full-time experience in the behavioral health field; or
- College degree and one year of full-time experience in the behavioral health field; or
- Master's degree and one year of full-time experience in the behavioral health field.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of behavioral health and substance use treatment.
- Experience with 12-step recovery principles and working with individuals experiencing substance use challenges.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships and communicate effectively with patients and treatment team members.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage workload and meet documentation deadlines.
- Comfortable using computers, including word processing, email, and spreadsheet programs.
- Commitment to ethical professional conduct, patient confidentiality, and appropriate patient boundaries.
- Demonstrated respect for cultural differences, diversity, patient rights, and individual dignity.
- Ability to remain professional, compassionate, and effective in challenging or crisis situations.
