Intern – Special Projects
The Berks County Intermediate Unit's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) Program serves Berks, Chester, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill Counties by ensuring children and youth experiencing homelessness have equal access to educational opportunities and the support they need to succeed in school.
We are seeking 1-2 interns to support the coordination of regional events and special projects that strengthen awareness of educational supports for children and youth experiencing homelessness. Responsibilities may include assisting with development and maintenance of the program's digital resources and website and an online training program for school staff. Interns will also assist with developing accessible digital content in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This paid internship is primarily remote, with opportunities for in-person involvement in any of our 6 counties, depending on the intern's location and interest.
Summary of position:
Assist PA's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness and Educational Stability for Foster Care Youth in supporting students experiencing homelessness and students in foster care in Region 2.
Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):
- Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and program partners both in person, on the phone, and electronically.
- Communicate regularly with supervisor and team members.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain required documentation.
- Complete applicable training
Qualifications:
- High School diploma and college-level general education coursework required.
- Experience working with at-risk youth preferred.
- Ability to exhibit professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a shelter and/or school environment and be a team player.
- Ability to multi-task and take initiative.

Temporary/Seasonal, Part Time
Salary:
Starting at $18.60/hour
