AmeriCorps Food Pantry Engagement Coordinator

The Edmonds College Triton Student Resource Hub and Food Pantry addresses the needs of students who are experiencing a severe financial crisis that impacts their continued academic success at Edmonds College. The mission is to provide a seamless and individualized response to Edmonds College students’ needs. The purpose of the Edmonds College Food Pantry is to address food insecurity for our students. We know students can't do their best in class on an empty stomach and we want to help! Our member will serve as part of a team that includes staff and volunteers to develop and maintain programming for visitors, donors and volunteers, develop volunteer recruitment strategies and training, identify new community partners, co-develop food and item drives, develop strategies for outreach and engagement and provide educational programming. The member will also assist the Food Pantry with procuring donations, helping customers with shopping, partner with our community partners to provide food and education programs, and help package and sort food. Interviews will be held the 2nd and 3rd week in August.

Member Duties : The member will support our mission addressing the needs of our students by assisting staff in all aspects of the Food Pantry. Member will build connections with our visitors to reduce hunger in our campus community. Members will assist with food and hygiene product distribution, coordinate and develop educational programs for food pantry visitors, develop and maintain service learning opportunities in the pantry, organize food and item drives, and develop strategies for outreach and engagement. Our member will also enter data daily for reporting purposes.

  • Member will serve a 10.5-month (1,700-hour) service term with a monthly member living allowance of $3,333.33 before deductions and withholdings

Confirm you're READY to serve

Service in the AmeriCorps program requires a commitment to 10-1/2 months and 1,700 hours of service unless otherwise noted. Most projects are based on a 40-hour week (8 hours in service daily, Monday through Friday).

Members typically begin serving in September, though there are opportunities to begin service throughout the year.

You can attend school or have a part-time job, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your service schedule.

Confirm you're ELIGIBLE to serve

To be eligible to serve as an AmeriCorps member, you

  • Must be at least 17 years old at the time you start serving.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien.
  • Cannot be (or required to be) listed on the National Sex Offender Registry, or have been convicted of murder.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED – or be on schedule to complete your education for either of them during your service term (note that some positions require a college degree). Tutoring positions require a high school diploma or GED at the time of enrollment.
