WE ARE HIRING! Join our team and become our new part-time SWIM INSTRUCTOR. Reporting to the Aquatics Coordinator, the Swim Instructor provides continuous, attentive instruction to swim classes at every skill level, taking every precaution to keep students safe in the water. 

Some info about the position…

  • Maintain American Red Cross and Village of Niles guidelines at all skill levels.
  • Prepare thorough, concise lesson plans for each class taught.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of lesson plans and class locations throughout the pool area.
  • Issue American Red Cross or Village of Niles certifications upon successful class completion.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, student progress, and Red Cross reports.
  • Submit reports promptly to the Learn-to-Swim or Aquatics Coordinator.
  • Attend all in-service training sessions and comply with facility guidelines.
  • Wear the staff uniform and maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance.
  • Conduct all interactions with the public in a polite, cordial manner.

Qualified candidates should…

  • Successfully complete the Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course.
  • Hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Be at least 17 years of age.
  • Bring prior teaching experience along with knowledge of water safety practices and equipment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to enforce pool rules and work effectively with the public and staff.
  • Be in good physical condition and maintain a dependable, alert, and enthusiastic approach.
  • Be capable of sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Pay, benefits, and more…

  • $20.15 to $26.19 per hour, depending on qualifications.
  • Up to 7 hours per week. Opportunity for additional hours with private swim lessons. 
  • Paid leave.
