Bilingual Spanish Domestic Violence Counselor

BASIC FUNCTION:
Plan, develop and implement counseling services for children of victims of domestic violence
- Provide individual and group counseling services for children of Spanish speaking families.
- Maintain a weekly schedule for individual counseling
- Assist with hotline and crisis intervention counseling
- Complete documentation and reports required by GACS and for contractual obligations in an appropriate and timely manner
- Communicate problems and issues of concern to the supervisor.
- Consult with GACS clinical staff for support and attend required meetings required of all counselors
- Collaborate with the advocacy and counseling coordinator and program supervisor to assure an effective counseling service delivery system
- Maintain confidentiality of client and agency information
- Assist GACS administration in any investigation against conduct that is illegal
- On call duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Attend staff meetings, team meetings and individual supervision
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in social work or a related field
- Bilingual communication skills– Spanish/English
- Good verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English
- Sensitivity to the cultural and socio economic characteristics of persons served
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Forty (40) hours ICADV approved domestic violence training within first year of employment– provided by the employer.
