We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Assistive Technology Specialist to support K-12 students in a school-based setting. This is a full-time, on-site contract opportunity offering competitive pay, full benefits, and weekly paychecks.

Position Overview

The Assistive Technology Specialist will work closely with students, educators, therapists, and families to evaluate, implement, and monitor assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) solutions that support student success in the educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assistive Technology & Itinerant Support

• Conduct evaluations and consultations related to assistive technology and AAC devices.
• Recommend curriculum modifications and accommodations to improve student access and participation.
• Assess classroom accessibility and develop strategies to support diverse learner needs.
• Train staff, students, and caregivers on the effective use of AT and AAC tools.

Due Process & IEP Management

• Conduct functional assessments and comprehensive evaluations.
• Develop, write, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Monitor student progress and ensure compliance with special education regulations.
• Participate in eligibility meetings, annual reviews, and multidisciplinary team discussions.

Collaboration & Consultation

• Partner with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and classroom teachers.
• Provide recommendations to support student achievement and independence.
• Collaborate with families and school staff to ensure consistent implementation of support strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with K-12 students in a school-based or special education setting.
• Knowledge of assistive technology and/or AAC devices.
• Experience conducting evaluations and writing IEPs.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
