Licensed Clinician (Contractor)

1099 Independent Contractor | In person, telehealth, or hybrid

LOCATION: Castle Shannon/ Mt. Lebanon


COMPENSATION:  Compensation is based on a percentage of the reimbursement received from insurance payers. Typical Reimbursement ranges between $50 - $110.00 

Position Summary

Valiant Minds Counseling, P.C. is seeking independently licensed Pennsylvania therapists to provide ethical, client-centered outpatient psychotherapy within a supportive group-practice setting. Contractors choose their schedules and may work in person, by telehealth, or through a hybrid arrangement. This opportunity is best suited to clinicians who want professional autonomy with referrals, office space, billing support, credentialing support, and opportunities for consultation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, family, or child/adolescent psychotherapy within your licensed scope of practice, based on your training and selected specialty areas.
  • Complete clinical assessments, collaborative treatment plans, progress notes, and other required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Maintain an independently selected caseload and schedule; communicate with clients regarding appointments, treatment needs, referrals, and continuity of care.
  • Follow ethical, legal, insurance, privacy, and practice requirements, including mandated-reporting and risk-management responsibilities.
  • Coordinate care with other providers or supports when clinically appropriate and authorized by the client.
  • Participate in consultation, peer collaboration, or supervision when needed and appropriate to your license and professional development.

We especially welcome clinicians with skill or strong interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • Marriage and couples counseling
  • Children and adolescents
  • Neurodivergent clients, including individuals with ADHD and autism
  • Adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, OCD, grief, or relationship concerns

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a closely related mental health field.
  • Active Pennsylvania clinical license that permits independent practice (such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, licensed psychologist, PhD, or PsyD, as applicable).
  • Pre-Licensed (LAPC) are encouraged to apply. 
  • Current professional liability/malpractice insurance.
  • Current criminal background, FBI, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse clearances, as applicable to the clinician's work.
  • Ability to manage clinical responsibilities, documentation, scheduling, and client communication reliably.
  • Commitment to ethical, culturally responsive, collaborative, and client-centered care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving one or more of the populations or specialty areas listed above.
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Interest in building and maintaining a sustainable outpatient caseload.

  • Insurance verification, claims submission, invoicing, and billing support
  • Credentialing management and support with major insurance panels
  • Practice marketing, a professional website profile, and ongoing client referrals
  • Private clinician consultation channels, shared resources, and direct access to leadership
  • Clinical supervision for clinicians who qualify

Independent Contractor Relationship

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not a W-2 employment position. Clinicians maintain professional independence and control over their schedules and may accept or decline referrals consistent with the parties' written agreement and applicable law. Compensation varies according to services provided, payer reimbursement, and contractual terms.
