Hours: Part-time, unpaid internship
About Women’s Storybook Project of Texas
Women’s Storybook Project of Texas connects children with their incarcerated mothers through the joy of literature. WSP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering incarcerated mothers by helping them record stories for their children. Through this project, we aim to strengthen family bonds and promote literacy.
Position Summary
The Programs Intern will support the coordination and delivery of WSP’s storytelling program. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit program planning, operations, and impact evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with logistics planning and preparation for program activities
- Help track and organize program participant records and materials
- Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth program execution
- Participate in weekly in-office sessions to help prepare and pack program materials
- Assist in gathering and analyzing feedback from volunteers and participants
- Support general program operations and assist with ongoing improvements
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program, preferably in Social Work, Education, Nonprofit Studies, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and mission-driven environment
- Basic proficiency with spreadsheets, Google Drive, or Microsoft Office
- Passion for social justice, storytelling, and helping children and families
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Learning Outcomes
- Learn how nonprofit programs are planned, coordinated, and evaluated
- Develop skills in logistics, record keeping, and team coordination
- Understand how storytelling can be used as a tool for family connection and literacy
- Build experience in supporting a direct-service program with meaningful outcomes
