Job Summary:
The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to students, teachers, and parents. The primary focus is to support students' emotional, social, and academic development by conducting assessments, developing intervention strategies, and collaborating with educators and families. The School Psychologist plays a key role in creating a safe and supportive learning environment in compliance with Michigan's educational laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
A. Michigan School Psychologist certificate; or Preliminary School Psychologist certificate
B. Masters or ED.S. degree in School Psychology required
Essential Duties:
● Consult team members concerning students’ educational needs
● Work cooperatively with other multidisciplinary evaluation team members and make eligibility recommendations in collaboration with the team.
● Communicate evaluative information to staff and parents.
● Have extended knowledge of all disabilities as described by Michigan Administrative Rules.
● Able to communicate effectively and interact with coworkers professionally.
● Conduct psychological assessments to identify students' cognitive, academic, and behavioral needs.
● Interpret assessment results and provide recommendations for educational planning.
● Understand testing and assessment tools & the populations to which they would be administered and interpret psychological and other diagnostic data.
● Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
● Develop and implement interventions to address students' academic, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
●Provide individual and group counseling services to students dealing with stress, anxiety, behavioral issues, and other psychological challenges.
● Participates in crisis intervention, including risk assessments for suicide or violence.
● Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to create strategies to support students’ learning.
● Act as a consultant for teachers and parents on issues related to child development, learning, and behavior.
● Work with parents to support students' needs at home and school.
● Participates in and supports the development of positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS), multi tiered support systems (MTSS) and social-emotional learning (SEL) programs.
● Monitor the effectiveness of school-wide programs and collaborate with the assigned school as necessary.
● Ensure compliance with Michigan state and federal laws related to special education and psychological services.
● Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided to students.
● Provide reports and documentation as required by school administration or district policy.
● Regular and predictable in-person attendance is required for his position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds or more. Occasional travel may be required. Noise levels are typically moderate.
