Gymnastics Instructor

The Town of Herndon is seeking to hire two part-time Gymnastics Instructors for the Herndon Community Center’s youth gymnastics skill-based program. We are seeking applicants who have availability in their schedules on Tuesdays and Thursdays this Fall and beyond from 1:30pm until 8:00pm. This position would be responsible for the creation and instruction of an age-appropriate guided gymnastics program for children ages 3-9, broken up into 3 age groups (3-5, 5-7, and 6-9).

Expectations and Responsibilities:
• Develop lesson plans and independently teach a variety of gymnastics classes to children under 10 years of age.
• Create and maintain a safe, positive, growth-oriented environment.
• Expected to set up and clean up before and after each class taught.
• Expected to be punctual and someone who can be relied upon to communicate absence or tardiness.
• Must be physically capable of spotting and assisting athletes, lifting children, and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications:
• Past experiences with teaching gymnastics, cheerleading, or tumbling competitions.
• Past experiences working with children.
• Responsible, energetic, and positive.
• Able to work on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings.
• CPR & First Aid certification desired.
- Over 18, previous teaching experience and gymnastics/gymnast/cheerleading/tumbling experience preferred.
