YOUTH SERVICES AIDE GRANDPAS UNITED

 

In this dynamic grant-funded position, the White Plains Youth Bureau is seeking a motivated team player to assist in managing two interconnected programs: Grandpas United, a volunteer initiative pairing senior men with local youth, and JumpStart for Dads, a structured fatherhood program operating within the Grandpas United umbrella.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/EXAMPLES OF WORK:  Under the direction of the Program Director and alongside other staff, 

 Plan, organize, implement and evaluate assigned intergenerational programs and activities; 

 Maintains records and statistics and compiles material needed to evaluate program and service effectiveness; 

 Prepares and submits reports as directed;  Conducts community outreach in order to seek out hard to reach youth in the schools, in their homes or other informal situations;

 Develops referral resources and contacts public and private agencies and groups providing services responsive to the needs and problems of youth; 

 Plans and conducts community meetings on various topics of interest to youth and intergenerational community members; 

 Performs related work required in the implementation of programs and services. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  This role divides time between the two programs and requires someone who is organized, collaborative, a strong communicator, who is comfortable working with diverse program participants and community partners.  

 Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in education, social work, psychology, sociology or a closely related field in the area of human services or education and a minimum of (1) year experience providing services to or working with youth.    

 Ability to work Monday-Friday 9-5pm, weekends and evening when required.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.
