Brain Balance of Northern Virginia is part of a national network of centers dedicated to helping children and adolescents improve focus, behavior, academic performance, and emotional regulation through a drug-free, noninvasive program. Our approach integrates sensory-motor training, cognitive exercises, and nutrition guidance to address developmental and learning challenges.
Position Summary
The Cognitive/Sensory Motor Coach works directly with children to implement individualized Brain Balance programs. Coaches guide participants through sensory-motor activities and cognitive exercises in a supportive, energetic, and structured environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about child development, movement-based learning, and making a meaningful impact on families.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized sensory-motor and cognitive training sessions according to Brain Balance protocols
- Work one-on-one and in small groups with children of varying ages and abilities
- Accurately follow program plans and track participant progress
- Motivate, encourage, and build positive relationships with participants
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging training environment
- Communicate professionally with center staff regarding participant performance and behavior
- Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and professional development
- Uphold Brain Balance standards, policies, and confidentiality requirements
Required:
- Experience working with children (education, coaching, childcare, therapy, or related fields)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow structured programs with attention to detail
- High energy, patience, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work afternoon/evening hours and occasional weekends
Preferred:
- Background in kinesiology, exercise science, psychology, neuroscience, education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or related fields
- Experience with sensory integration, motor development, or learning differences
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and engage in physical activity throughout sessions
- Ability to demonstrate exercises and movements safely
