Job Title: Learn to Skate Instructor

Start Date: Immediately

Base Pay: $16/hr (actual pay dependant upon prior coaching experience)

Potential Hours: Mondays 6:00-8:00pm with occasional Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm throughout the year


 

Job Description: Bemidji Figure Skating Club is seeking a fun, enthusiastic Learn to Skate Instructor with a passion for helping skaters develop a love for skating. Must be able to work as a team with other coaches. Prior experience managing group classes is a plus. This would be a great opportunity for skaters who are attending Bemidji State University, Northwest Technical College, and Oak Hills Community College to work part-time.


 

Qualifications:

  • Candidates who have passed at least Pre-Silver Skating Skills and Bronze Singles will be given priority.
  • Other past experiences will be taken into consideration for those who have not passed the above recommended tests.
  • Candidates must be at least 16 years of age, and able to lawfully accept employment in the United States.
  • Submit the coaching application to the Learn to Skate Director, who will turn it into the BFSC Board of Governors.
  • Complete SafeSport Certification, and turn in the certificate with your application.
  • Candidates must have student coached at least 3 Learn to Skate sessions with at least 30 hours with the Bemidji Figure Skating Club (hours must be submitted with application), and possess a written favorable recommendation from the student coach’s supervisor to be considered for a coaching position.

--OR–

  • Candidates must have a written letter of recommendation from a prior club and at least one documented year of coaching experience. A resume must accompany this written documentation, which includes two reference names, and either a telephone number or email address.
  • Prior to coaching, the candidate must be in compliance with Learn to Skate USA as an instructor.
  • Must be familiar with Snowplow Sam 1-2 and Basic 1-6 curriculum. Priority will be given to those who are familiar with Pre-Free Skate through Free Skate 6 and/or Hockey 1 through Hockey Power.  


 

The Board of Governors and Learn to Skate Director will set up an interview with the candidate in person or on google meet after a letter of application and all accompanying documents are submitted.
