NYIC VISTA Volunteer Manager

NYIC VISTAs are AmeriCorps VISTAs who - through the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) - engage in a year of full-time paraprofessional service at a nonprofit host organization, where they work on capacity-building projects that support their host in being able to carry out immigrant-focused anti-poverty programs and services. 

The NYIC VISTA will:

  • be full-time for 12 months;
  • and will work on capacity building projects (see listing link for specific activities)

During their year of service, NYIC VISTAs are supported with the following benefits:

  • Living Allowance (an AmeriCorps VISTA stipend ranging from $24,962 to $32,262 depending on the county that the position is based out of)
  • Choice of a health plan for AmeriCorps VISTAs or a health voucher to cover medical expenses not fully covered by insurance
  • Choice of a year-end education award ($7,395 voucher) or cash stipend ($1,803)
  • Eligibility for benefits such as:
    • funds for relocation
    • child care support
    • student loan forbearance/deferment

 

The NYIC VISTA, Volunteer Management, placed at CCCS, will work on volunteer management projects (e.g., recruitment, trainning, management, evaluation, appreciation) in support of the organization's Day Laborer Program (DLP). This position will be based in Yonkers, Westchester and will occasionally involve traveling to recruitment sites adjacent to the office. Candidates fluent in Spanish are a plus.
