Job Title: Rehabilitative Services Associate (RSA)

Department: Mental Health Housing

Status: Nonexempt (Hourly), Full-Time and Part-Time shifts are available 

Reports To: Behavioral Health Site Manager

Starting Compensation Pay: $16.50/hr weekday pay rate, and $20.80/hr weekend pay rate

 

PURPOSE:  The Rehabilitative Services Associate (RSA) provides direct supervision, therapeutic programming, and skill development services to youth receiving residential behavioral health treatment. Under the supervision of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), the RSA implements treatment and behavior intervention plans while promoting safety, emotional wellbeing, and positive behavioral change. The goal of this position is to support youth in developing the skills necessary to successfully transition to a less restrictive environment, such as returning home or entering foster care.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: completed under the supervision of a QMHP (additional information can be found in 89 Ill. Adm. Code 140.453) and include the following. 

  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth within the residential treatment environment.
  • Build positive, therapeutic relationships with youth and engage them in treatment and daily activities.
  • Implement treatment plans, behavior intervention strategies, and therapeutic programming.
  • Facilitate individual and group skill-building activities.
  • Promote positive behavior and model safe, respectful, and prosocial interactions.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of youth at all times.
  • Assist youth with daily living skills, personal care needs, hygiene, recreation, and community activities.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in accordance with agency, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, admissions, and discharge planning.
  • Transport youth to appointments, educational activities, and community-based services as needed.
  • Complete all required training, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), trauma-informed care, and agency compliance training.
  • Utilize approved de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
  • Report suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with mandated reporting requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be at least 21 years of age and demonstrate skills in the field of services to adults or children, the ability to work within agency structure and accept supervision, and the ability to collaborate constructively with residents and other providers. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED: 

Degree/Field Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience Required:

  • Must meet Illinois Administrative Code requirements for a Rehabilitative Services Associate. 
  • Previous experience working with youth, behavioral health services, residential treatment, education, or human services is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications Required: 

  • Must qualify as a Rehabilitative Services Associate under Illinois Administrative Code requirements.
  • Ability to successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training and demonstrate approved intervention techniques.

SKILLS REQUIRED: 

Trauma-Informed: Demonstrates a commitment to trauma-informed care principles and applies those principles consistently when supporting youth and collaborating with team members. 


VEHICLE RELATED REQUIREMENTS: 

Access to reliable transportation: Required.

Access to a reliable automobile: Required.

Proof of continued auto insurance: Required.

Valid driver’s license: Required.
