Premed College Advisor

About the Role

Med School Insiders is seeking knowledgeable Independent Contractors to partner with us as Premed College Advisors. In this role, you will use your expertise to help current college students strategically navigate their premed journey as they prepare for eventual medical school applications.

This is a flexible and consulting engagement. Advisors operate as independent professionals who choose which student engagements they take on and determine how to deliver guidance within our established service framework.

Scope of Work

  • As an Independent Premed College Advisor, you may be engaged to provide services such as:
  • Premed Academic & Planning Guidance
  • Offering insight into course scheduling, major selection, timelines, prerequisites, and planning ahead for medical school admissions.
  • Extracurricular & Experience Strategy
  • Advising on research, clinical exposure, volunteering, and leadership opportunities best aligned with competitive medical school expectations.
  • Personal Development & Mentorship
  • Helping students navigate challenges in college, develop strong habits, build their narrative, and stay on track with goals.
  • Process & Resource Collaboration
  • When relevant, contributing your expertise to improve internal advising resources, best practices, and student-support guidelines.

 

All services are provided independently, using your own professional judgment and methods, while following MSI program guidelines to maintain consistency for students.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Prior experience advising college or premed students, tutoring, academic coaching, or working in higher-education support services.
  • Knowledge (Must have): Strong understanding of the U.S. premed path, including coursework, extracurricular expectations, MCAT planning, and medical-school competitiveness factors.
  • Skills:
    • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to mentor and guide students effectively
    • Strong organizational judgment and professional reliability
    • Ability to operate independently without supervision

Nice-to-Have (Not Required)

  • Experience in college admissions, pre-health advising, or teaching
  • Prior work with BS/MD, premed, or competitive academic programs
  • Leadership, coaching, or mentoring background
