The Gathering Program Facilitator II

Part-time (21 hours/week)

            This position is responsible for facilitating The Gathering, a dementia group respite program.  The facilitator will create a supportive and engaging environment for individuals living with dementia, providing meaningful activities while providing 4 hours of respite for their family caregiver. This part-time position is scheduled across three weekdays. 

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate The Gathering group respite program by leading engaging activities such as arts/crafts, active games, music, brain games, exercise, and table games, using planned curriculum developed by program coordinator. 
• Create a warm, inclusive environment and support new participants as they transition into the program.
• Supervise and support program volunteers.
• Actively participate as a team member and contribute to the growth of The Gathering and Lyngblomsten Community Services.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, Music Therapy, Gerontology, Nursing, or related field preferred.
• Experience leading activities for individuals living with dementia (2-5 years preferred).
• Experience supervising volunteers (3+ years preferred).
• Passion for working with people living with dementia and commitment to person-centered, strengths-based care.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
• Comfortable leading groups and managing multiple responsibilities.
• Strong problem-solving and assessment skills (physical, mental, and social).
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Reliable transportation; ability to work at both Como and Lino Lakes campuses.
