Music Performance Advisor

Music Performance (Vocal) Portfolio Advisor (Part-Time)

 

Job Description:

Ivy Ivy Link is seeking an exceptional Music Performance (Vocal) Portfolio Advisor to support high-achieving students pursuing admission to Ivy League universities, top liberal arts colleges, leading conservatories, and other highly selective institutions.

Ideal candidates possess deep expertise in vocal performance, repertoire selection, artistic portfolio development, music supplements, and the strategic presentation of musical accomplishments within the college admissions process. We are particularly interested in professionals who can help students thoughtfully position music as part of a broader academic, intellectual, and extracurricular narrative while maintaining the highest artistic standards.

We seek an advisor who combines artistic excellence, strategic judgment, mentorship, and admissions insight to help students present compelling and authentic portfolios that strengthen their candidacy at the nation's most selective institutions.

This is a fully remote, part-time independent contractor role with a flexible schedule. There is no non-compete preventing you from working with other companies.

Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Exceptional communication and mentorship skills, particularly when working with high-achieving students and families
  • Deep expertise in vocal performance, repertoire selection, and artistic portfolio development
  • Significant experience advising students on music supplements, artistic portfolios, recordings, auditions, and related submissions for highly selective colleges, universities, and/or conservatories
  • The ability to evaluate a student's artistic strengths and provide strategic guidance regarding repertoire, recordings, presentation, and positioning
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to provide clear, actionable, high-level feedback
  • At minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance, Music, Music Education, Musical Theatre, or a related field (advanced degree strongly preferred)

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Have served as faculty, instructors, coaches, adjudicators, portfolio reviewers, or admissions professionals within highly selective music or performing arts programs
  • Have a demonstrated record of helping students develop successful music supplements, artistic portfolios, recordings, audition materials, and related submissions
  • Have experience advising students applying to Ivy League universities, top liberal arts colleges, leading conservatories, and other highly selective institutions
  • Hold degrees from, have taught at, performed at, or maintain professional affiliations with institutions such as Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman, Berklee, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Peabody, and peer institutions

Responsibilities

  • Advise students on vocal portfolio development and artistic presentation
  • Provide expert guidance on repertoire selection and artistic positioning
  • Review recordings, performance materials, music supplements, and related submissions
  • Offer feedback on artistic résumés and music-related application materials
  • Advise students on whether and how music should be incorporated into their broader admissions strategy
  • Provide guidance regarding audition preparation, recording strategy, and portfolio submission requirements, where applicable
  • Collaborate with Ivy Link admissions advisors to ensure alignment between artistic and admissions goals
