Neighborhood House is a nonprofit that helps people thrive through education, health, and basic needs services. We serve individuals and families across the Portland metropolitan area, with a focus on communities experiencing poverty and barriers to opportunity.

The Community Health and Education department operates seven programs that address critical social determinants of health, including food security, housing stability, healthy aging, resource navigation, youth and family support, and community wellness. These programs help low-income community members access essential services, build stability, and improve quality of life.

Volunteers play a vital role in expanding the reach and impact of these programs. This AmeriCorps VISTA member will help build sustainable volunteer engagement systems that increase community participation and strengthen Neighborhood House’s ability to serve more people effectively. By developing recruitment strategies, engagement processes, community partnerships, and volunteer management tools, the member will help create lasting organizational capacity that supports poverty reduction and healthier communities.

Portland offers an exceptional quality of life, with easy access to parks, rivers, hiking trails, the Oregon Coast, and the Cascade Mountains. The city is known for its vibrant neighborhoods, local food scene, arts and culture, and commitment to community engagement and social impact!

Position offers are made on a rolling basis; early applications are strongly encouraged.
