Oregon Health Authority (OHA) AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

Join Oregon’s statewide public health AmeriCorps VISTA Team to improve health services while building invaluable leadership, project management, and volunteer coordination skills in Portland, OR!

OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders are responsible for:
1) Member Orientation - Orient members to their new roles and anti-poverty project focus;
2) Team meetings - Plan and coordinate (6+) team meetings, including annual conferences, new member orientation, and National Days of Service that reflect members’ professional development needs and increase their ability to build capacity and reduce poverty at host sites;
3) Member support - identify members’ successes and concerns and support solutions that ensure member retention, host site collaboration, productive year of service, and professional development; 
4) Recruitment and outreach - Identify, plan and coordinate recruitment and outreach strategies and activities; and, 
5) Program Quality Improvement - Identify gaps or areas for improvement in the OHA VISTA program and implement changes. 

Leader positions require 1 year of completed service with AmeriCorps or Peace Corps. This is a hybrid position at the Portland State Office Building.

 

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is the state government agency that addresses health throughout Oregon. The OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project was founded in 2009 to alleviate, prevent, and reduce poverty by engaging new public health professionals in a year of full-time service in public health organizations to create or expand public health systems capacity. The OHA VISTA Project is also committed to building a diverse workforce to strengthen service to Oregon communities. The OHA VISTA project is embedded in the OHA Health Security, Preparedness and Response (HSPR) program which addresses public health emergency preparedness and response across Oregon.
