Children's Residential Counselor

Children's Residential Counselor (Ages 6 - 13)

New Alternatives is seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our team. New Alternatives works with children and youth at their residential home site who have experienced child abuse. The applicant will gain experience working within a residential treatment setting and will learn the skills necessary for de-escalation, emotional support, and behavioral support with clients at a high level of care treatment placement.

Shift Available: Wednesday- Sunday 3pm -11pm

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related field is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, proof of automobile insurance and have access to reliable automobile
  • at least 6 months of experience working with children (volunteer work is acceptable)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Provide support to the child and family
  • Ensuring the safety and supervision of the clients.
  • Assist in coordination of transportation of youth.
  • Capability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with the child and family
  • Applicant needs to have patience, compassion, and confidence to work with a population of clients that have severe emotional dysregulation and behavioral instability.
  • Maintain updated accurate daily log of services provided
