Community Health Outreach Coordinator

Committed to unlocking the potential of every child, the IWS Children’s Clinic, owned and operated by the OPRF Infant Welfare Society, is a full-service primary care clinic providing comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health and social services for children in need.

Position Title: Community Health Outreach Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Grants & Outreach

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Prepares, supports, and coordinates the IWS Children’s Clinic’s Portable Dental Program, ensuring smooth delivery of school‑based preventive oral health services, while sustaining broader health outreach initiatives at community events to spread awareness of the IWS Children’s Clinic.

Full-time: $43,000 annual salary, 37.5 hours/week

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Portable Dentistry Program (85% of role focus)

  • Schedule school visits for the Portable Dental Program by coordinating communications with school contacts and IWS Children’s Clinic Dental Staff
  • Prepare paperwork for onsite visits (creating forms, checking MCO websites for insurance eligibility of each student)
  • Distribute hard copy consent forms to schools and collect completed consent forms at an agreed time with school contacts
  • Ensure compliance with IDPH quality assurance protocol guidelines and enforce guidelines during unplanned site audits
  • Attend school visits to supervise and assist portable dental staff (charting, retention checks, etc.), while managing student flow and ensuring students waiting for exams are looked after
  • Responsible for driving clinic van to and from portable dental sites and helping load and unload equipment
  • Promote oral health and nutrition during school visits
  • Enter and complete all necessary patient history data after each visit for tracking and reporting purposes
  • Analyze patient data and create summary documents for reporting to internal/external stakeholders
  • Compile all portable billing materials and deliver to designated billing personnel
  • Foster a caring, respectful environment for students and clinic staff
  • Assist administration with additional projects as requested

Community Health Outreach (15% of role focus)

  • Assist in researching community events looking for vendors
  • Maintain regular communication with outreach contacts on behalf of the IWS Children’s Clinic.
  • Attend local outreach events (health fairs, back to school bashes, etc.) to promote IWS Children’s Clinic services
  • Assist with the development and distribution of health education and clinic promotional material for outreach purposes.
  • Present condensed health education workshops for children and families during outreach events when applicable
  • Oversee vehicle care and maintenance for the Clinic Van, including scheduling maintenance and updating vehicle insurance and registration
  • Responsible for performing other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Established typing and data entry skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs of equipment
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience with oral health and/or public health education at the community level a plus. Maintain valid driver’s license.
