Position Summary

Juab High School is seeking a motivated, organized, and student-centered Athletic & Activities Director to oversee and coordinate the school's UHSAA-approved athletic and activities programs. The ideal candidate will foster a culture of sportsmanship, leadership, student involvement, and school pride while ensuring compliance with district and UHSAA policies and procedures.

This position works collaboratively with coaches, advisors, students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders to support high-quality extracurricular opportunities for students while helping build and sustain programs that align with the vision and direction of Juab High School administration.

Essential Responsibilities

Athletic & Activities Leadership

  • Coordinate and supervise all UHSAA-approved athletic and activities programs.
  • Support and evaluate coaches and advisors in collaboration with school administration.
  • Ensure compliance with UHSAA rules, district policies, and eligibility requirements.
  • Oversee scheduling, transportation, facilities usage, calendaring, and event management for athletic and activity programs. Assist in coordination of rentals for non-district events.
  • Coordinate hiring recommendations and onboarding for coaches and advisors.
  • Assist with budgets, purchasing, inventories, fundraising oversight, and program needs.
  • Promote sportsmanship, citizenship, leadership, and positive student participation experiences.
  • Develop, strengthen, and sustain impactful athletic and activities programs that align with the goals, culture, and direction established by school administration.
  • Collaborate with administration, coaches, advisors, and stakeholders to create long-term growth opportunities for student programs and extracurricular involvement.
  • Requires active participation in Region meetings and Region Events
  • Seek opportunities for coach and activity advisor professional development opportunities. 
  • Responsible for reporting unsafe equipment, and improper use if it is reported. 
  • Provide and assist coaches with information regarding fundraising practices, including getting cash boxes, securing money and proper paperwork completed. 
  • Responsible for maintaining and locking up facilities in coordination with the custodial and administration team.
  • Ensure that teams are using approved trademark and copyright, logos and school colors.
  • Foster and sustain a positive, competitive culture aligned with the School's vision for student-athlete conduct, coach leadership and development, and the continued growth of Wasp traditions, unity, and pride.

Program Oversight & Operations

  • Supervise game and event management, ticketing, security coordination, and staffing.
  • Assist with facility scheduling and maintenance coordination.
  • Maintain accurate Coach and Performance arts advisor certifications, trainings, and required documentation as per UHSAA.
  • Monitor student eligibility and attendance requirements.
  • Coordinate communication and promotion for athletic and activity events.
  • Work collaboratively with booster clubs, community organizations, and school stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties and oversee additional activities as deemed appropriate by school administration.
  • Responsible for tracking uniform/ apparel rotation for athletic teams and assisting in getting bids and overseeing quality products.
  • Responsible for coordinating halftime performance and events

Teaching Responsibilities

  • May be assigned teaching responsibilities aligned with the candidate's current Utah teaching license and endorsements.
  • Collaborate with administration and department teams to support instructional goals and student achievement.
  • Maintain professional educator standards and instructional effectiveness within assigned teaching responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required.
  • Valid Utah Administrative/Supervisory Endorsement required.
  • Valid Utah Educator License required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous coaching, athletic administration, or student activities leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of UHSAA athletics and activities programming.
  • Certification or active participation in the Utah Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (UIAAA) and/or National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Positive, professional, and collaborative attitude.
