Teen Mentoring Program Case Specialist

The Teen Program Case Specialist provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of refugee and immigrant youth by connecting them with caring adult volunteer mentors and supporting them in achieving their educational, vocational, and social goals. This role combines direct client engagement, case management, program coordination, and administrative responsibilities in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

The Teen Program Case Specialist works closely with youth participants, families, volunteers, schools, and community partners to ensure youth receive culturally responsive support and access to opportunities that promote long-term success and a sense of belonging.

This position is ideal for a candidate who brings warmth, cultural humility, strong organizational skills, initiative, and a passion for working with diverse communities. The successful candidate is relationship-oriented, organized, adaptable, and committed to empowering young people through mentorship and advocacy.

 

Details of Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally competent, equitable client services with minimal supervision
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in the preparation and implementation of program activities and materials
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with intake, assessment, and goal planning services for enrolled participants
  • Conduct regular check-ins (weekly/bi-weekly) with enrolled participants and their paired volunteer mentors to monitor progress and provide support
  • Provide basic case management support for the youth's educational, vocational, and social needs, including connecting clients to resources, following up on referrals, and documenting client interactions
  • Assist with end-of-session activities & evaluations
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with planning group events/field trips & chaperoning as needed
  • Documenting client progress and case notes in the database
  • Performs other tasks as required

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • HS Diploma. Prefer some college credits
  • Experience working with youth and/or students with limited English proficiency in an educational setting

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Ability Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong desire to work with immigrant & refugee youth aged 14-24
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced multi-priority environment;
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills; ability to anticipate outcomes;
  • Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook);
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as critical thinking ability;
  • Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to work productively in a multicultural environment and demonstrate respect for differences.

Other Requirements:

  • Appropriate availability consistent with organization's established practices and norms; hours not to exceed 16 hours per week without prior supervisor authorization;
