Human Services Intern
Legacy Caregivers is seeking a Human Services Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and learning how a person-centered caregiving agency operates.
This internship is a great fit for students interested in human services, social work, psychology, developmental disabilities, healthcare, case management, community support, or nonprofit work. Interns will assist with projects that support client engagement, independence, daily living skills, community involvement, and quality of life.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assist with planning client-centered activities, outings, and engagement opportunities
- Help organize resources that support independence, routines, and community involvement
- Support documentation, program planning, and administrative projects related to client services
- Research community resources, assistance programs, recreational opportunities, and support services
- Help create materials for client programs, household activities, and life-skills development
- Observe how a developmental disability service agency supports individuals, families, staff, and support teams
- Participate in team projects that improve the client experience
Qualifications:
- Current student pursuing human services, social work, psychology, sociology, healthcare, education, disability studies, or a related field
- Compassionate, dependable, organized, and respectful
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable working around individuals with developmental disabilities
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
